Battletech best mech full#Against the clans I have to be more cautious with him so he tends to try to stay hidden or out of range and use sensor lock a lot, until he gets a chance to jump out and wreck someone with a full blast of MLs and MGs. I originally was playing the Grasshopper to have a backstabber, but he ends up being my scout by default because he's the most mobile mech I have. Even with cover that's enough to get knocked down or lose something valuable.Īlso, with bigger drops, stability damage seems better than in vanilla because you get more turns to get a knockdown, and more turns to shoot them while they're down. So when I just charge in my front mech often just gets hit by 10 consecutive attacks before I get a chance to respond. Long range seems essential to me when fighting clanners, because they have long range and there are a ton of enemies every mission. In Vanilla I really like brawlers and backstabbers, but in BEX I've been valuing the LRM boat a lot (there's a reason that Stalker is still in my starting lineup). I’ve never used more than 1 LRM boat, and I’ve never ran a dedicated scout, but I feel like it’d be boring, and difficult to headcap, which AC/20s are decent at I prefer a full complement of brawlers- I like the challenge of maneuvering between cover, rolling my armor, and occasionally getting around behind mechs, as well as using hills and other topology to my advantage. That said, I don’t usually run a LRM boat. I don’t bother with called shots, usually.Īlso, the Griffin 2N with 4 SRM6+++ and 5 JJ is a wonderful backstabber, though the ammo needs to be put in strange places. Alpha of close to 500, and when an enemy is narced and that goes above 560. I armed it with 6 SRM6+++, 3ER Small Lasers, and 2 MLaser++. The Atlas-R7 is mothballed at the moment, but I’m running an Atlas A after my Narc++ armed bullshark which is ripping up heavies in a single alpha strike. I’ve been filling out my assault lance, and have a full Steiner Scout Lance completed. I’m still VERY early game compared to you, so I doubt my experience will help your situation much, but it might prove useful to others.
